2: "You Are Only Good" | Overcome Porn Addiction by Knowing True Self

Become A Good Man

What if I told you that you are only good? That there is no bad in you? What if I told you that your being contains no evil or fear, but only love?

Most likely, this sounds like a strange concept. Either it brings up memories of pop songs that say “You’re amazing just the way you are” or mother’s kissing their children on the forehead as they tell them “you’re perfect.”

Before you head out on a road of misgivings, let me explain.

Porn addiction recovery requires a major shift in perspective. If we want to quit porn, we must learn over time to center our focus on the things of peace, connection, and depth. And so, we must understand that we - and all around us - are, in truth, only good.

This is because there is not only one “you”. Rather, there are two versions of you, my friend. What are these two versions? They are the ego and the True Self.

Addiction comes from ego - or the false self. The ego bases its identity upon past and future, strengths and weaknesses, history and choices, and the opinions of others. The ego bases its self-worth upon what is fallible - possessions, accomplishments, status, etc. It feeds off of fear and seeks to remain separate from others. Porn addiction is born within this mental and spiritual space of separation.

Then, there is the True Self. This is the self we must come to recognize if we want to overcome porn addiction. The True Self is whole. It knows only the present moment. Past and future do not exist for the True Self. It knows its oneness with all beings and with Higher Power. Its only desire is to extend goodness to everything that exists.

Which of these versions of self do you believe is the real you? To learn more about how to tap into the True Self and get rid of pornography addiction, listen to my latest podcast episode: Ep. 2: You Are Only Good: Get Rid of Porn Addiction by Knowing True Self.
